England's women will face Australia in the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 on Friday following a comfortable 63-run victory over Pakistan in Taunton.

Captain Charlotte Edwards top-scored with 43 in England's 123, an innings which featured five run-outs.

But a fine all-round bowling display saw Pakistan dismissed for 60, with spinner Holly Colvin taking 3-18.

Earlier, seamer Shelley Nitschke took 4-21 as Australia cruised to a 24-run victory over South Africa.

World Cup 50-over champions England were put into bat after Pakistan won the toss and made a positive start with openers Edwards and Sarah Taylor (16) putting on 43 for the first wicket.

Every time we seem to have a telling off from our coach we seem to turn it around, so I'm hoping we will do that again

But the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals, with only Lydia Greenaway (27) able to construct an innings of any substance.

Captain Edwards said: "We can do better than that. It's still not good enough, it's disappointing.

"The run-outs were schoolgirl errors. Every time we seem to have a telling off from our coach we seem to turn it around, so I'm hoping we will do that again.

"There is pressure on our top order to score runs but we have total belief in the whole of our batting line-up and I'm absolutely certain that these girls are going to come good."

England may be concerned about the poor running between the wickets but they have no such worries about their bowlers, who dismissed Pakistan 64 runs short of their target with 19 balls to spare.

India will face New Zealand in the other semi-final at Trent Bridge on Thursday.
