India aim to 'bat big'
Indian centurion Rahul Dravid said his side wanted to bat only once as they aimed for their first Test series win against Pakistan.

Dravid ended the day unbeaten on 134 as India amassed 342-4 - 118 runs ahead of Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

VVS Laxman hit a rapid 71 and teenager Parthiv Patel, promoted up the order to opener, made a Test-best 69.

Dravid said: "We certainly don't want to bat again on this pitch. We'd like to bat once and bat big."

It was the vice-captain's 33rd Test ton but his first against Pakistan.

He added: " It was important for us to bat well and seize the advantage provided by a fine display of our bowlers yesterday.

"Our lead is just over 100 and we need to build it to put pressure on Pakistan.

"We had to work hard and keep the concentration going.

Dravid said he was eager to post a big knock after failing in the previous two Tests, when he captained the team during Sourav Ganguly's absence because of injury.

He added: "I'm always eager to score runs, but being eager doesn't always work.

"When things are going well for you, one tries to make the best of it."

Pakistan face a difficult task on Thursday with Ganguly unbeaten on 53.

Their problems have been further compounded after strike bowler Shoaib had to go off the field for treatment to a hand injury after falling whilst bowling.

And short-leg fielder Asim Kamal was also taken to hospital for precautionary X-rays after being hit on the elbow from point-blank range.
