England bowler Ryan Sidebottom to miss Test series

England fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom will miss the Test series against Bangladesh after flying home from the tour with an injury to his right thigh.

Coach Andy Flower confirmed the Nottinghamshire seamer will be replaced in the Test squad by Tim Bresnan.

Bresnan, who played two Tests against the West Indies in 2009, is currently in Bangladesh with the one-day squad.

Middlesex seamer Steven Finn has been brought in as cover for Graham Onions and Stuart Broad, who have back issues.

England are suffering an injury crisis in the bowling ranks with Sidebottom having already missed the second one-day international against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

Meanwhile, Broad's back injury has ruled him out of Friday's final one-day international in Chittagong.

"There has been a lot happening at the moment," said Flower

"Sidebottom has pulled a side muscle and will be going home on Saturday after the one-dayers have finished. He won't be fit for the Test matches so he has to go home.

"Bresnan is going to take his place. He's staying on after the one-dayers.

"We also have concerns over Broad and Graham Onions.

"Broad injured something in his back in the last ODI and Onions is also struggling with something in his back.

"Both of them are having MRI scans and we will know more about their results on Friday afternoon."

Finn has been with the England Lions in Dubai, having also represented England at Under-16, 17, 18 and 19 levels after making his Middlesex debut in 2005.

The opportunity alone to train with the squad and impress in front of the coaching team is a fantastic enough experience for me

And the 20-year-old opened the Lions bowling attack in the Twenty20 victory over the full England side, picking up the wickets of Joe Denly and Matt Prior on his way to figures of 2 for 25.

However, the 6ft 7in right-armer, who was named in the provisional 30-man squad for the World Twenty20 in April, will not be called into ODI action on Friday.

Instead Finn will link up with the rest of the squad before the Test series starts in Chittagong on Friday, 12 March.

"I am delighted to be given such a fantastic opportunity," said Finn, who took 53 First Class wickets for Middlesex at an average of 30 last year.

"To be called up to the full England side is a real honour for me, and I am really excited to be joining up with squad over in Bangladesh.

"Whether I get to play any matches over there remains to be seen, however the opportunity alone to train with the squad and impress in front of the coaching team is a fantastic enough experience for me.

"Whilst I am coming in as cover for the bowling unit, I intend to work as hard as I can and enjoy the experience of being around the England squad and coaching staff."
