Lucas secures Headingley switch
David Lucas
Lucas has best figures of 5-104, but that was back in 1999
Yorkshire have announced the signing of former Nottinghamshire left-arm seamer David Lucas for next season.

The 26-year-old spent five years with Notts, making his debut in 1999.

He captured 52 wickets at an average of 36.71, and in the one-day game took 41 at 29.24, once capturing two wickets in two balls against Somerset.

Lucas has played three one-day games since 2003 but will be needed following Steve Kirby's departure and Matthew Hoggard's likely absence with England.

His initial contract will only last until the end of June, however, and it is up to him to prove he has a longer term future with the county.

"Notts had a lot of bowlers and I had injuries at the wrong time, which didn't help.

"There were three left armers - me, Ryan Sidebottom and Greg Smith - and everyone knows you are not going to play three left-armers.

"I probably was the easy option to be left out. But I want to put all that behind me," Lucas told the Yorkshire Post.
