Twenty20 match set for Liverpool

Liverpool CC chairman Peter McAvoy
McEvoy is pleased with Liverpool CC's growing relationship with Lancashire

Lancashire will play their first ever Twenty20 match away from Old Trafford on Merseyside on 22 June.

Liverpool Cricket Club will host the match in Aigburth between Lancashire Lightning and Leicestershire Foxes.

Liverpool CC chairman Peter McEvoy told BBC Radio Merseyside the event will boost the sports profile in the area.

"It's great for the city and for the club obviously. We're delighted that they've chosen us to stage this game, it's a very exciting time," he said.

McEvoy believes Lancashire now consider Aigburth to be their second home.

"Last year, knowing the developments going on at the ground [Old Trafford] we made them aware that we were prepared to stage any game and any amount of games over the next couple of years.

"I think also if they're bringing a game out, they know at Liverpool Cricket Club we have everything sorted, it's not a problem, we get on with it, do it and deliver."
