Pollock looks to build on success

Durham all-rounder Shaun Pollock has said he was pleased to come away with a victory against Derbyshire in the Twenty20 Cup on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old hit the winning runs on his Durham debut in near darkness as they won by five wickets.

Pollock told BBC Radio Newcastle: "We've got a bit of momentum and confidence from the way we've gone so we can use that for the next game.

"To end up on top and get the points, we haven't got too many complaints."

Durham's target was reduced to 48 runs from seven overs in fading light which became a rude awakening for the South African on his return to English cricket.

"It's definitly the darkest circumstances I've ever played besides playing backyard cricket all those years ago.

"Maybe if I wasn't 34 and my eyes weren't as bad as that then I might have picked it up a bit clearer.

"The crowd were here to see the game and we managed to squeak it in. It was great that we ended up on the winning side."

Paul Collingwood will be missing from the rest of Durham's Twenty20 campaign but the Dynamos are continuing to look forward.

Pollock said: "It's a very quick tournament so there's no real turnaround time, the more you keep on winning the better.

"[Paul Collingwood] bowled superbly well for us and got some crucial wickets at times and restricted them at the end and we'll take a nice bit of confidence from that."
