Kent 141 (19.5 ovs) beat Somerset 82 (16.5 ovs) by 59 runs
Match scorecard

Kent opener Joe Denly
Denly hit nine boundaries in his 56-ball 65

Joe Denly starred on a day when the rest of the batsmen struggled as Kent bowed out of the FP t20 with a 59-run win over Somerset at Taunton.

Denly made 65 as Kent were bowled out for 141, with Darren Stevens (39) the only other man to make double figures.

But Simon Cook then picked up 3-13 as Somerset were shot out for just 82.

However, Essex's defeat means Somerset finish top of the South Group and meet Northants in the last eight, while Kent finish in sixth place and go out.

After Kent won the toss they were reduced to 61-4 before a fifth-wicket stand of 63 between Denly and Stevens.

When Stevens, who hit five fours and a six in his 26-ball effort, fell it sparked a collapse that saw Kent lose their last six wickets for 17 runs as Alfonso Thomas - the leading wicket-taker in the FP t20 - picked up 3-21.

Somerset threatened to make light work of their target when Marcus Trescothick crashed three fours in the opening over, but in needlessly clipping Stevens to mid-wicket he set the tone for the home side's woeful reply.

After Stevens bowled Peter Trego, Cook and James Tredwell ran through the middle order as Somerset were dismissed for the lowest Twenty20 score in their history.
