Lancs-Somerset cup tie washed out

Lancashire v Somerset

Live scorecard

Twenty20 Cup

The Twenty20 Cup quarter-final between Lancashire and Somerset again fell foul of the weather when it was postponed on Wednesday because of heavy rain.

Having first been abandoned on Tuesday, the wet weather again ensured no play was possible and the teams will now attempt to play on Thursday morning.

A start time of 1100 BST has been agreed, and a bowl-off will take place if the weather again prevents play.

That bowl-off will be indoors at Old Trafford if necessary.

Somerset bowler Alfonso Thomas told BBC Somerset: "Twenty20 has come so far that guys don't want to give this up easily because of the Champions League, so let's keep our fingers crossed we don't get to a bowl-out.

"If push comes to shove with two days gone I think the boys would settle for a five over game."

On Monday, Sussex and Kent qualified for finals day, which takes place at Edgbaston on 15 August, with wins over Warwickshire and Durham respectively.

The other quarter-final between Northamptonshire and Hampshire was also rained off, with play now due to start on Thursday at 1730 BST.

Somerset Sabres beat Lancashire Lightning in the Twenty20 Cup final in 2005.
