Notts boosted their title hopes by wrapping up an innings victory with five sessions to spare over last year's champions Warwickshire at Trent Bridge.

Skipper Nick Knight was unable to bat because of a hand injury as the visitors were bowled out for 207 to go down by an innings and 151 runs.

Alex Loudon (46) and Neil Carter (45) batted well before spinner Younis Khan claimed the last two wickets.

Notts now head the Division One table by half a point from Kent.

David Hussey's magnificent 232 not out on day two was the corner stone of their victory and it seemed to be merely a question of how long Warwickshire could prolong the game after resuming on 107-3.

Jim Troughton was quickly caught behind off Greg Smith for 16 as he attempted to drive and the same combination accounted for Loudon with the total on 149 - Smith proving the most potent weapon with figures of 3-64.

AJ Harris picked up the wicket of Tony Frost for 10, caught at extra cover by Ryan Sidebottom from a leading edge, and veteran Dougie Brown was bowled by Graeme Swann for six.

Carter struck a six and seven fours in his 39-ball counter-attack but the introduction of Pakistan Test player Younis hastened the match to a conclusion.

Makhaya Ntini skied to mid-off after making six and the final act saw James Anyon out for two as Younis dived to his left to claim a return catch.
