James Anderson has praised former coach Peter Moores the day after Kevin Pietersen claimed England would not have retained the Ashes with Moores still in charge. The fast bowler said Moores - now his county coach at Lancashire - was instrumental in elevating him to the role of attack leader, giving Anderson more responsibility on the tour of New Zealand in early 2008.

England's cricketers will receive a huge bonus from the ECB if they manage to win the Ashes series. The closely guarded figure is thought to be around £750,000 - to be shared out among the players if they go on to win in Sydney and secure a 3-1 series victory.

Already committed to continue at Test level, Australia captain Ricky Ponting has also ruled out retiring from the one-day game after the World Cup finishes in March. "I don't know where the finish line is," said Ponting, 36.
