Guernsey cricketers sealed their first international title as they won every match in the ICC European Division Two Championship held on the island.

With wins against all five opponents the island side made up for losing the same tournament by one run in 2008.

In their last match on Monday, Guernsey beat Norway by 109 runs.

The islanders put themselves in to bat and were 219 all out in 46.1 overs before bowling the visitors out for 110 in 38.4 overs.

With Guernsey at the crease Jeremy Frith got his second, and the tournament's third, century going out on 109 and captain Stuart Le Prevost went out for the first time in the tournament on 53.

Gary Rich and Lee Savident were the top performers in the bowling taking 4-22 and 3-8 respectively.

Le Prevost said at the start of the tournament that the team's aim was to finally win a tournament having been denied two years previously and losing to Bahrain in the ICC World League Division Seven.

He said: "It's massive for cricket in Guernsey, I'm pretty sure all the guys feel the same.

"We set our stall out early on, we wanted to win every game and that's what we've done - you can't really ask more of the boys.

"We've been in this sort of situation before but we've really drilled it home, it's really pleasing."

In the hosts' other matches they beat France by six wickets, Germany by eight wickets, Israel by eight wickets and Gibraltar by 141 runs.

Two years earlier in the same tournament Guernsey finished second to Jersey by one run in the tournament's deciding match after both teams had previously defeated all their other opponents.
