South Africa took the last game of the three-match one-day series in India after AB de Villiers hit a brilliant 58-ball century in Ahmedabad.

The De Villiers ton was the seventh fastest in ODIs, and with Jacques Kallis adding one of his own they steered South Africa to 365-2.

With various players rested and the series already secured, India did not really threaten their target.

They were all out for 275 in the 45th over, Dale Steyn taking 3-37.

South Africa won the toss and Loots Bosman set the tone for the tourists with a ferocious 68 off only 48 deliveries, combining nicely with Hashim Amla (87) to add 113 for the opening wicket.

Kallis then hit an unbeaten 104 and De Villiers smashed 102 on another flat surface.

With Sudeep Tyagi playing only his fourth ODI and Abhimanyu Mithun on debut, India's bowling attack was on the weak side. But its leader in terms of experience, Sreesanth, was the most expensive of all, bowling nine wicketless overs for 83.

Sachin Tendulkar had earned a rest after his historic unbeaten 200 on Wednesday, so when openers Murali Vijay and Dinesh Karthik fell cheaply the writing was already on the wall for India.

Only one batsman, Virat Kohli, passed 50 - but by taking 71 balls to hit 57 he gave the lower-order batsmen a nigh-on impossible task as the required run rate soared.
