India captain Sourav Ganguly was pleased by his star-shorn side's win over Zimbabwe but not by the 24-run margin of victory.

Opening batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, and all-rounder Agit Agarkar, all rested injuries.

"With Sachin, Sehwag and Agarkar out it's not always easy to find the best combination," he said.

"But it gives a good opportunity for the rest of the guys and so far they've done really well."

Ganguly added: "It was a bit too tight at the end. We had them 106-4 in 30th over and to come to this stage they did very well."

With specialist Parthiv Patel in the side, Rahul Dravid was relieved of wicket-keeping duties and top-scored with 84.

But Yuvraj Singh gained the man-of-the-match award for a quick-fire 69, ending a poor run of form going back to October.

"I was a bit short of confidence because in the last six or seven games I didn't have runs behind my back," Yuvraj admitted.

"I thought I'd just settle in and play until the end."

Zimbabwe skipper Heath Streak was positive despite a new policy of promoting all-rounders up the batting order not paying off.

He said: "We tried to be positive and unfortunately it didn't quite work but that's what we've got to try and do to win games."

"We just need someone to do the job that Rahul Dravid did for them - bat through and get a decent score.

"We showed at the end we've got guys who can get the run rate up and we can finish."

India face Australia in Sydney on Thursday in the next match of the series, with an opportunity to go top of the table.

"We're doing very well over here and are looking to pick it up," Yuvraj added.
