Tour match, Brisbane: Queensland Academy Invitation XI 201 & 176 beat Bangladesh 203-9 dec & 145 by 29 runs
Bangladesh's hopes of a winning start to their Australia tour were blown as the tourists collapsed to a 29-run defeat at the hands of a Queensland Academy of Sport invitational side.
After dismissing their hosts for 176 in their second innings, Bangladesh proved wanting as they chased just 175 for victory, slumping to 145 all out.
Top-order batsmen Hannan Sarker and Habibul Bashar were joint top-scorers with 33 while all-rounder Alok Kapali made 27 and wicketkeeper Khaled Mashud contributed 24.
The wickets were shared among five Queensland bowlers, pace man Damien MacKenzie leading the way with 3-28.
Resuming the third day's play at Allan Border Field on 153-7, the hosts could only reach 176, Anwar Hossain taking the last two wickets to finish with 3-25.
Lee Carseldine followed his first innings 92 with an unbeaten 31.
Coach Dav Whatmore's side will begin their next match against the Australian Cricket Academy at the same venue on 3 July.
