Rendall Munroe has world title in his sight

Munroe focused on world title shot

Leicester binman Rendall Munroe says getting the chance to fight for the WBC super-bantamweight title is a dream.

Munroe stopped Victor Terrazas in the ninth round of Friday's eliminator and will face Japan's Toshiaki Nishioka.

"That is the major world title. People who know about boxing know to win the WBC means you are one of the top boys," Munroe told BBC East Midlands Today.

"It's a dream to be a world champion and I have climbed over the hedge and I'm in the ring now for that fight."

And Munroe says his work ethic and attitude means he has nothing to fear from his next fight.

"Every time I get in the ring is a serious step," Munro added. "Every single fight for me is a world title fight. Obviously it's working and I can't see it being any different.

Promoter Frank Maloney is the man who will set up the shot at the world title but Munroe will first think about taking a well-earned break.

"That side of things doesn't concern me," Munroe reflected. "I just need to get prepared for the fight - that's my part of the deal.

"I'll have a couple of weeks off training and just get back to work."
