Froch to spar with beaten Pascal

Carl Froch
A UK broadcaster has yet to be announced for Froch's fight

Nottingham boxer Carl Froch will come up against the man he beat to the world title, when he spars with Jean Pascal ahead of his first world title defence.

Froch beat Canadian Pascal at the Nottingham Arena in December 2008 to win the WBC super-middleweight title.

The 31-year-old, who holds a perfect 24-0 record, faces Jermain Taylor on 25 April in Connecticut.

Froch told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We're two proud warriors and we have a lot of respect for each other."

Undefeated Froch, who has 19 knockouts, faces Taylor, a former undisputed middleweight champion. The 30-year-old has lost only twice in 31 fights, winning 17 bouts by knockout.

In 2005 he beat Bernard Hopkins to take all four middleweight titles but lost his belts when he was beaten by American Kelly Pavlik two years later.

Froch has tucked himself away at a gym in Loughton, Essex, and will head to America two weeks before the fight.

The contest, at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, will be shown live by American broadcaster Showtime, although a British television broadcaster has yet to commit.
