Khan to take on Gethin in Glasgow
Amir Khan
Bolton boxer Amir Khan will fight in Scotland for the first time when he faces Steve Gethin at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on 5 November.

The 18-year-old won his first pro bouts in Bolton and Cardiff and will now grace the undercard of featherweight Scott Harrison's next WBO defence.

"It's nice to go all over, it gives everyone a chance to see me box," said the 2004 Olympic silver medallist.

"There's a big Scottish-Asian community up here and they are well behind me."

Khan missed out on a couple of opportunities to fight in Scotland as an amateur, but is keen to make up for lost time.

"I don't know why I have support from Scotland, they just say they like the way I box," he said.

"I've boxed a few Scottish boxers and I know a few Scottish coaches - maybe they've told their friends but I think that the Olympics got me a lot of fans.

"I've been to the borders but this is the furthest north that I've been."

Harrison, who had to cancel a fight date in October due to injury, will discover his next opponent on Thursday.
