Great Britain earned one gold medal and two silvers at the World Archery Field Championships in Hungary.

Cumbria's Alan Wills won an all-British men's recurve final against Jon Shales.

Wills, a member of the British Olympic team in Beijing, beat Buckinghamshire's Shales 54-51 for gold, having won bronze at the same event in 2002.

Meanwhile, Naomi Folkard, an Olympian at Athens and Beijing, lost her final to Sweden's Christine Bjerendal, also in the recurve event in Visegrad.

The field archery championships differ from those at Olympic and Commonwealth level as it involves different sized targets, distances and gradients on a field course.

But with the Commonwealth Games looming, Wills said~: "This will give me some more confidence and it will also be really good for the team. We've got a really strong team.

Wills said he is looking forward to competing in Delhi, where archery makes only its second appearance on the Commonwealth Games programme.

"The Commonwealth Games are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Archery hasn't been at the Commonwealth Games for 28 years and I'm really looking forward to it," he added.
