Andrew Flintoff was born in Preston and plays cricket for Lancashire and England.
A talented all-rounder, he's been called one of English cricket's most exciting prospects. But although he's only in his early twenties, his career so far has been affected by persistent back injuries.
As a boy, Andrew played football for Preston schoolboys and Leyland St Mary's. He supported his local team, Preston North End, and also admits a soft spot for Liverpool FC. Andrew was also a dab-hand at table-tennis.
His sporting heroes while he was growing up were legendary cricketers Ian Botham and Viv Richards, boxer Mike Tyson and Liverpool star John Barnes.
Andrew played cricket from an early age and turned out for Lancashire under-11s through to under-16s. At the age of 15, he played for their second XI and made his first-class debut aged 17. On the England scene, he's played from under-14s right through to senior international level and captained the under-19 side on their tour of Pakistan. His Test debut was against South Africa in 1998.
His nickname is Fred - something to do with his surname sounding like that of a famous cartoon caveman!
