  • Sprinter Darren Campbell could be coming to your school for the day if you win Passion for Sport. His proudest moment came in the Sydney 2000 Olympics when he won 200m silver.

  • As a junior athlete, he won four gold and two silver medals at international championships between 1991 and 1992. After injury, Darren turned his attention to football, playing for Cwmbran, Plymouth Argyle and Weymouth. He later had two seasons for Newport, before returning to athletics seriously in 1996.

  • Manchester-born Darren played alongside Ryan Giggs in the Trafford schools football team.

  • Apart from his Olympic silver, he has had most success at 100m. Between 1998 and 2000, Darren won five gold and one silver medal at 4 x 100m and two 100m golds in major championships.

  • Off the track, Darren has strutted his stuff on the catwalk, modelling for top fashion labels Jasper Conran, Yves St Laurent and Kangol.

  • One of Darren's best mates is fellow athlete Jamie Baulch. They met aged 14 and now share a room on training camps abroad. They both like football - in fact, Jamie became a Manchester United fan after Darren took him to a game.
