THE TOP JOB
The second vote at the Moscow Congress elected Jacques Rogge to succeed Juan Antonio Samaranch as IOC president, arguably the most powerful position in world sport. Never again will the Olympic movement have such a patriarch; Samaranch has been at the helm for 21 years, but Rogge will serve just an eight-year term, renewable only once for a further four years. Click on the picture gallery above for profiles of Rogge and the four other losing candidates, and to discover what lies in store for Samaranch's successor. Profiles by BBC Sport's Gordon Farquhar |
