Brazilian Tarso Marques was the fifth youngest driver in Grand Prix history when he first drove for Minardi in 1997. A personable man with a fair turn of speed when the mood takes him, he is no more likely to be able to give a true account of his ability this time around than he was before.
He impressed in Formula 3000, the last feeder series before F1, when he raced in it in 1994 and 1995, but the cards were stacked against him when he drove for Minardi last time and they will be again in the partnership's new liaison. Marques has not driven that regularly since he left F1 in 1998, so it will take time for him to get back into the swing of things. But his biggest problem is that he is driving in a back-of-the-grid team against a man of considerable promise. And so far Marques has not shown that he has the wherewithal to earn a long-term future in F1. |
