The Scot will have good memories of The Belfry, having holed the winning putt when Europe first won the Ryder Cup at the West Midlands course in 1985. It was a historic moment as Torrance ended a 28-year drought for Europe. His first experience in 1981 was a tough initiation, when he twice lost to Lee Trevino and Steve Pate. But consistent form saw him star in the next seven Cups, helping Europe to four victories, and he was Mark James' right-hand man at Brookline. |
