Having opted out of the pre-Christmas tour to India for safety reasons in the wake of the 11 September attacks on the USA, Caddick bounced back with some superb performances in New Zealand.
The Somerset paceman bagged 19 wickets in three Tests and in the process took his career total to 200, only the ninth England bowler to reach that milestone.
It also propelled him back into the top 10 of the PwC Test bowling rankings and prompted New Zealand opener Mark Richardson to say of Caddick: "Trying to keep him out was my biggest challenge to date."
At 6ft 5ins tall, he is capable of disconcerting lift, which could make him a handful for the Sri Lankan and Indian batsmen this summer.
