Kanpur
3rd ODI, 28 January
Kanpur is on the banks of the Ganges, in the northern half of the country, and the ground, Green Park, is a picturesque one.
Spectators with long memories will associate the name of Jasu Patel with Kanpur.
In 1959-60, India upset the formbook by beating Australia by 199 runs, and Jasu had figures of nine for 69 and five for 55.
In 1983-1984, with Gordon Greenidge (194) and Malcolm Marshall (eight for 66) at the very summit of their powers, the brilliant West Indies of that era won with a day to spare.
The following season saw Mohammad Azharuddin complete his world record of scoring three consecutive centuries in his first three Tests.
But with so many Tests played here ending in draws due to its featherbed wicket, one-day cricket is often more suitable in Kanpur.
