Karsten Kobs celebrates in style
men's final :: Seville 1999
The throwers are not usually the most demonstrative of athletes - particularly the Germans. But when Karsten Kobs threw 80.24m with his first attempt in the final, something special was about to be unleashed.

As his win was confirmed, Kobs kissed the concrete of the throwing circle, set off on a celebratory run into the infield, picking up the yardage tape and waving it over his shoulders.

Skipping on, like David Pleat at Maine Road, he spotted the steeplechase water jump on the top bend of the running track and, picking up speed, dived in.

After splashing around like a captive whale he peeled off his t-shirt, pulled up his vest and kissed the German flag.
