Greenshields signs Catalans deal

Clint Greenshields

Catalans full-back Clint Greenshields has signed a new three-year contract with the French Super League club.

The 26-year-old, who joined from St George Illawarra 18 months ago, has scored 19 tries in 40 appearances.

"I'm delighted to extend my contract," he said. "I'm very happy here. We have grown every day since my arrival and I want to be a part of this adventure."

The club are also confident that they will soon be able to announce the replacement for coach Mike Potter.

Potter is leaving the club in October to succeed Daniel Anderson at St Helens.

The announcement of the new deal for Greenshields ends speculation that he would follow Potter at the end of the season.

"It's fantastic for the club," said Potter. "Clint is one of the best Super League full-backs. He is the third player to extend his contract and others should follow him in the weeks to come."

The Catalans say they are close to securing a replacement for Potter, with a candidate almost certain to come from Australia.

"I think we'll be able to announce the name of the new coach in the next days," said general manager Christophe Levy.
