Childcare costs 'a risk to mothers in workforce'

Some parents could be forced out of work and into poverty as the rising cost of childcare outstrips wage rises, according to a new report from the Daycare Trust.

A survey by the charity showed that the average cost of nursery care in Britain for children under two rose by nearly 6% last year.

Panorama's Shelley Jofre met working mothers in Leicester who are facing high childcare costs at the same time as they try to maintain busy careers at a major NHS Trust.

Panorama: The Cost of Raising Britain, BBC One, Monday, 27 February at 20:30 GMT and then available in the UK on the BBC iPlayer.
