Flotilla activist wanted to be a 'martyr'

Turk Cevdet Kiliclar, one of nine activists killed on a Gaza-bound aid mission, was prepared to become a martyr for the Palestinian cause, his wife has said.

There was an international outcry when Israel seized a ship in a flotilla trying to break the naval blockade on Gaza.

Mr Kiliclar's widow, Derya, said: "He was crying his eyes out. He really wanted to go there to be a martyr."

Colonel G, one of the commanders of the Israeli special forces who seized the Mavi Marmara, said lessons had been learned.
