Joint Football Association and Premier League statement to Panorama: The FA and the Premier League fully support sustainable, competitive and healthy club football. The new UEFA Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, relevant to clubs competing in European competitions, are largely in line with recently introduced domestic regulations that aim to promote sustainability within English football. At the top level of the game such domestic regulations include the submission of independently qualified accounts and future financial forecasts, as well as a requirement for clubs to prove they have no outstanding debts to the taxman or other football clubs. English football, operating within legal frameworks defined by UK and EU law, will continue to consider introducing regulations and licensing conditions that balance the long-term sustainability of clubs against the ongoing promotion of a successful model that continues to attract investment.
