Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall attended the 78th Royal Variety Performance at the London Coliseum. The evening was hosted by Jonathan Ross.

Guests at the gala performance included BBC newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky. The show featured performances from Jamelia, Sugababes and Iranian comic Omid Djalili.

Reformed boy band Take That performed their number one single, Patience. The Duchess of Cornwall later told the group she was "so glad to see you back together".

Katie Price and Peter Andre performed at the show. The Duchess told the couple she had watched them get together on the reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

After the show, Prince Charles met performers, including the cast of Wicked, backstage.

The Prince also met the king of the Copacabana, Barry Manilow, who performed a selection of hits from the 1960s.

Singer Rod Stewart topped the bill, singing Father and Son and It's A Heartache. He was joined backstage by Meatloaf, who had performed a song from Bat Out Of Hell III.

The Prince of Wales also greeted veteran comedian Ken Dodd. The Royal Variety Performance will be shown on BBC One on 12 December.
