New NHS dentist for problem town

People queuing for an NHS dentist in Scarborough Scarborough is to get another NHS dentist to help cope with the number of people in the town who want dental treatment.

Linda Williams has been recruited from Sweden and will take on a further 500 patients.

Earlier this year hundreds of patients queued round the block to register with the first new NHS dentist in the town for many years.

An NHS spokesman said they hoped to attract more dentists in the future.

In February, hundreds of people queued for hours outside the Queen Street Surgery when an NHS dentist opened for business.

Within a few days 3,000 patients had registered at the practice.

Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Primary Care Trust is asking people to register over the phone to avoid a repeat of the queues.
