Specially branded laser-class yachts have marked the 1,000-day countdown to the 2012 Olympic sailing events in Dorset.

Weymouth and Portland will play host to 400 international athletes at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Instructors and young sailors from the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy took to the water with special boats with 1,000 on their sails.

They sailed past famous Dorset landmark Durdle Door in the branded boats.

A weekend of celebrations to mark the milestone is taking place across the UK.
