Jane Hill presents News 24 with Matthew Amroliwala between 1100 and 1400 Monday to Friday.

Jane started working in BBC local radio at the age of 16.

After studying Politics at London University, she worked at Democratic National Headquarters in Washington DC, before joining the corporation full time at the end of 1991.

She was a producer on BBC Radio Five Live for 18 months from its launch, then moved into television after completing the BBC Regional News Trainee Scheme.

Jane has been with BBC News 24 since it began at the end of 1997, and in that time has fronted coverage of a wide range of stories. She presented a week of special programmes from Washington DC in the aftermath of September 11th, and anchored the live coverage for BBC News 24 and BBC World of the first anniversary commemorations at Ground Zero in New York.

She presented numerous special programmes on BBC One and BBC Two with Huw Edwards during the war in Iraq, and in December 2003, on the day US forces captured Saddam Hussein, she broadcast for nearly eight hours continuously on both terrestrial channels, BBC News 24 and BBC World.

Jane also presents BBC One weekend bulletins, the One O'clock News and Six O'Clock News.

In her spare time, she is a keen supporter of the arts, particularly theatre, and enjoys food, wine - and going to the gym.
