Take That announce their return

Take That

Take That singer Gary Barlow has announced the title of the band's new album.

The Manchester four-piece have named their fifth record The Circus, which is due out on 1 December.

The singer also said the band are set to hit the road for a UK tour but the dates are still being finalised.

The group's new single Greatest Day, which is released on 24 November, received its first airplay on the Chris Moyles Breakfast show on Monday.

Perfect opener

Barlow revealed that the track was written by all of the band and said it would be a perfect opener for their forthcoming tour.

It was written and recorded at SARM studios in Notting Hill before it was mixed in Los Angeles at the Jim Henson Studios

"We've always thought we've got great songs for finishing our concerts off -we wanted to write something to start it"

He said: "We've always thought we've got great songs for finishing our concerts off.

"So we wanted to try and write something to start the whole concert. That was our thinking behind this single."

The singer also revealed how his collaboration with comedian Peter Kay came about for The Winners Song, which featured on the spoof show Britain's Got The Pop Factor And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice on Sunday.

"Peter came to a lot of our gigs over the years so I got to know him a bit and he called me in January," he said.

"He was talking about this show and said he wanted to get a song for the end. So he wrote all these lyrics out.

"Basically it's an amalgamation of all the winning songs from The X Factor and we wrote it together."

The track, which Kay sang on the show as the spoof character Geraldine McQueen, is out now.
