Indie up-and-comers Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong have scrapped their debut album less than a fortnight before its release.

According to the band's label Mercury, singer Joe Lean has written several new songs which he wants to appear on their self-titled debut.

Review copies have already been sent out and the album scores an eight out of ten in this week's NME.

It's now likely the album won't see the light of day until early 2009.

Apparently, the band reckon the album, as it currently exists, is not representative of their current sound, as it was done too early in their career.

Earlier in the year, it was reported that Courtney Love had scrapped an entire album's worth of material she had worked on with producer Linda Perry.

And just last month, Pete Doherty scrapped a solo project that he had worked on since his release from prison.

Joe Lean, who doubles as an occasional actor having appeared on TV shows like The Tudors and Peep Show, was one of the hottest tipped acts for this year, including the BBC's Sound of 2008.
