'BB house mates to sleep on floor'

Big Brother 10 kicks off on Thursday night with the papers full of speculation on what producers have planned for this year's bunch of contestants.

Host Davina McCall confirms whether the house mates will be sleeping on the floor and eating cold porridge and reveals her BB highlights.

Is it true that it is going to be very cruel in there, no beds, cold porridge? What can you tell us?

Yes, they are going to have a hard time when they go in there, and they are all going to have to earn their place in the Big Brother house. They will have to do some tough things, and they might not have a bed to sleep in tonight. But you know, it's a big honour to be in the Big Brother house and you are going to have to earn your place.

So, series 10, is it still as exciting for you?

Oh yeah, the build up, and the fact that I haven't seen the house yet - I can't wait to get in. Yes it is still just as exciting because every year is different, because every year the house mates are different.

Has it still got life after 10 years?

Well, Channel 4 have commissioned this programme until next year, it gets commissioned in blocks. So whether they will take that up again I don't know. I think it's still got legs. I don't see any reason why, if we keep up the standard that we have done over the last 10 years, it can't go on and on and on.

Can you see a point where you would hand over the mantle to anyone else?

I just hate that idea. I hate the idea of someone else doing what I consider to be my programme.

Are you are going to be doing Big Mouth this year too?

Well, basically what I do after I've done a show is go back to my dressing room and gossip about Big Brother with my mate Tony. So basically I will just be doing what I do with Tony, on telly, and getting paid for it. So brilliant, I'm thrilled to be doing Big Mouth.

What have been your highlights over the years?

I would probably say I loved Nadia giving me the rib-crushing hug (series five), Craig Phillips giving Jo the money in series one. I loved Brian Dowling and all his dramas (series two). I love Brian Belo full stop, he is so adorable (series eight).

Can you describe what this year's bunch are like?

Very good mixture, something for everyone. There are a lot of good characters who we think are going to entertain us brilliantly and throw themselves in to the task at hand. There is a good mixture of backgrounds and cultures - really good interesting people.
