Gordon Brown has been criticised for sending a condolence letter to the mother of a soldier killed in Afghanistan that appears to include a number of mistakes.
-
The letter to Jacqui Janes, the mother of 20-year-old Jamie who was killed by a bomb October, has a scribble on the name Jamie and also appears to have other spelling mistakes, including writing Mrs Janes as "Mrs James".
-
Gordon Brown has since contacted Mrs Janes to apologise and say he meant no offence by apparently misspelling the name of her son. A spokesperson for the PM has also said Mr Brown "would never knowingly misspell anyone's name".
