The Xbox will be the first console to offer live TV
|
Sky TV is to make many of its live and on demand programmes available to watch through Microsoft's Xbox 360. Premier League football, movies and showbiz shows are all likely to be on the Sky Player subscription service. Interactive elements that allow viewers to communicate with each other in real time are also planned. As well as this, on demand information such as sport fixtures and league tables are also being developed to tie in with the service. The Sky/Xbox link-up launches in the autumn with a number of different packages and a pay-per-view option. The news marks another step in the gradual coming together of TV, the internet and gaming. However, the Xbox isn't the only console that lets its owners watch television. Nintendo Wii gamers recently got access to the BBC's own iPlayer catch up service and Sony launched a PlayTV add-on offering live freeview for the Playstation 3 (PS3) last year.
