British troops in attack on Taliban

British forces have been involved in a major air assault in Afghanistan. Troops attacked a Taliban stronghold in the south of the country. The Ministry of Defence says it's one of the largest air operations in modern times. 12 Chinook helicopters, supported by 13 other aircraft including Apache and Black Hawk helicopter gunships and Harrier jets, dropped more than 350 troops from the Black Watch into Babaji, north of Lashkar Gah. Operation Panther's Claw targeted one of the last Taliban strongholds in Helmand Province. It began just before midnight on Friday, the idea was to secure the area ahead of the Afghan presidential elections in August.

Find out what it's like going out on patrol with the UK's Mercian regiment, the US Marine Corps and the Afghan National Army in Afghanistan.
