Lil Wayne was scheduled to play in the UK next week

Lil Wayne has postponed his forthcoming UK tour after being told to take "doctor-mandated rest".

The Lousianan rapper was due to play two gigs at London's Apollo venue next week [6 and 7 July] alongside Kid Cudi.

Ticketholders have been advised to retain their tickets as the shows will be rescheduled.

A record company statement read: "[He] looks forward to returning for the performances and visitation with his fans."
