Slipknot top Kerrang! nominations
Slipknot recently headlined Download festival 2009

Masked metal outfit Slipknot lead the nominations for this year's Kerrang! Awards.

The Iwoan band are up for six gongs including best single, live band, best video, best album and best international band.

The weekly magazine's awards take place in London on 3 August and are hosted by Slipknot's Corey Taylor and Anthrax's Scott Ian.

Last year's winners included 30 Seconds To Mars and Rage Against The Machine.

Other bands also up for K! Awards this year include Gallows, Bring Me The Horizon, Metallica, You Me At Six, Green Day, The Gaslight Anthem, Enter Shikari and The Prodigy.

Recipients for The Kerrang! Icon, The Kerrang! Hall of Fame, Inspiration and Spirit Of Independence awards will announced on the evening with the rest of the categories voted for by Kerrang! readers.
