Green Day confirm new LP title
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong
Billie Joe Armstrong has claimed the band's new songs are "middle-aged".

Green Day have confirmed a name and release date for their new album.

21st Century Breakdown - the group's eighth studio album - will be released this coming May.

The band confirmed the basic details of the follow up to 2004's American Idiot on their official website.

The album will be split into three 'acts' entitled Heroes And Cons, Charlatans And Saints and Horseshoes And Hand Grenades.

The band spent much of 2008 in the studio with Nirvana producer Butch Vig.

Billie Joe Armstrong and co spent part of 2007 touring as their alter-egos Foxboro Hot Tubs before beginning work on the album.
