Coldplay collaborate with Jay-Z

Coldplay will release a new EP later this year

Coldplay have teamed up with Jay-Z for their next single.

The group have reworked the track Lost with the rapper, which features on their recent album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.

The four-piece will also release a new eight track EP entitled Prospekts March alongside the single.

Singer Chris Martin said: "We're going to release something odd which is like an EP. The songs are like unfinished homework that we're handing in late."

The EP, which is released on 24 November, will feature six new tracks which were recorded during sessions for the band's recent album.

Guest appearance

The group's version of Lost featuring the Jay-Z collaboration was also recently laid down in New York.

Speaking about the rapper's contribution, which is out on 10 November, guitarist Jonny Buckland told Newsbeat: "It was great, he did his rap in New York," before bassist Guy Berryman added: "We know him, he's an amazing supporter of Coldplay and a fantastic man."

Writing on Coldplay's official site Martin added: "We are very proud of these and are pretty excited to release them.

"They have each been the subject of many discussions and arguments.

"Some might be considered too catchy or too heavy for Coldplay songs but in our minds they complete the Viva La Vida picture."

The four-piece will hit the road for a UK tour later this year.
