Elbow have announced plans to play a one-off gig in London next year.

The Nationwide Mercury Prize winners, who are due to hit the road for a UK tour on 6 October, will be performing at Wembley Arena on 14 March 2009.

Tickets for the concert, which is the band's first ever arena show, go on sale on 30 September.

The Bury five-piece's record The Seldom Seen Kid is currently sitting at number nine in the UK album chart following their recent prize victory.

The band are planning to head into the studio to record an album of children's songs later this year.

Elbow are also working on releasing an animated film to accompany the album.
