Metallica will be performing an intimate Radio 1 show for their devoted fans
Metallica have announced plans to play a special Radio 1 show for their fans.
The metal veterans will be performing an intimate set at London's BBC Radio Theatre on 14 September, to celebrate the release of their ninth studio album Death Magnetic.
The gig, which is their first ever live show for the station, will be broadcast the following day on Zane Lowe's show.
Up to 140 pairs of tickets are being made available to fans through a lottery system online.
The following day, the band will also play the capital's 02 Arena for fans registered to their website.
The group recently made their return to the UK with a headlining performance at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals.
Metallica's new album will be released on 12 September.
