Busta Rhymes swaps his million dollar lifestyle for a spot of litter picking

Busta Rhymes is teaming up with Guillemots for a ticket give-away which seeks to encourage teenagers to take part in a community service scheme.

Fans are being invited to earn a special ticket for a forthcoming gig at the Royal Albert Hall on 26 September through the Orange RockCorps programme.

Up to 60 volunteer projects across the UK are being organised before the gig.

To promote the scheme, Busta Rhymes swapped his million dollar lifestyle for a spot of litter picking in London.

'Getting dirty'

RockCorps has been running in the US for four years, collaborating with artists including Kanye West, Kelis, Panic at the Disco, Nas, Korn, and Nelly.

More than 35,000 young people have participated in projects that have benefited their local communities and more than 35% of those participants have volunteered again within 12 months.

Rhymes said: "I got involved in this because I thought it was a great thing to be part of and it's fun.

"The vibe is incredible, it's actually one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

"Just being out here and just being around the common man and the normality of regular life. That's the most comforting thing about this whole day for me."

Rhymes helped volunteers to clear, clean, paint and refurbish facilities used by Sports Action Zone (SAZ), in Lambeth.

He said: "Everybody is out there working and getting dirty, everybody is grinding and putting in what they feel they can contribute to the betterness of seeing something that needs to be helped, get helped.

"There isn't nobody out here worrying about how their hair looks or worrying about their nails being done, their pretty cars and their jewellery.

"There's just people who are genuinely trying to just bring about a wonderful, positive successful outcome by collectively working together. And I love that."
