The Odd Couple plan another album

Cee-lo Green and Dangermouse chillaxing in London

Gnarls Barkley say they have already started thinking about their next album.

"I think as soon as we were done with the second album, we were thinking about the third", explained a tired looking Dangermouse as the pair sit, holed up in one of London's swankiest hotels.

The award winning producer continued: "Once we get in the groove of making music together we want to keep going."

The band's debut album St Elsewhere, which contained the massive hit single Crazy, topped the charts in the UK.

Their latest album, The odd Couple, was released in March but just scraped into the top twenty.

Compared with the psychedelic party production of the first album which matched hip-hop with soul and funk, The Odd Couple has a much more retro feel to it.

It also lacks an obvious breakout hit like Crazy, which has been covered by artists as diverse as Prince and The Kooks.

Talking from somewhere beneath his XL sized hoodie, singer Cee-lo Green said: "I happen to think the music is compared with most timeless music we have made.

"I think that what we are doing is progressive but it is something old, something new.

Stripped down

Gnarls Barkley are in the UK to play a small series of stripped down, no frills intimate gigs in London.

Dangermouse said: "Yeah, that was kind of my idea, it started when I found an old organ at a thrift store in LA, which had drum beats and stuff on it.

"It ended up breaking down on me, so we invited the band to come out and play instead.

"I'm not sure how acoustic it will be but we will wait and see."

Gnarls Barkley release their next single, Going On, on 9 June.
