Foo Fighters on stage at Wembley
The Foo Fighters have kicked off the first of a two night run at Wembley Stadium in London with a thrilling performance.
Around 80,000 fans were treated to longer than two hours of music from the American rock band.
They were supported by US band Against Me! and Supergrass.
Foos frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl told the crowd that the shows marked the biggest gigs they had played in the UK.
The Foos took to the stage at around 7.45pm. Earlier in the evening, Supergrass had delighted with the crowd with a 50-minute set.
They played some of their earliest hits including Feel Alright and Caught By The Fuzz.
The fans were vocal in their support but the night belonged to the Foos who played 21 tracks over the course of the show.
The stage sat about a third of the way on to the pitch, with a long walkway extending almost to the other end of the field.
At times, it almost came across as a one man show as Grohl prowled the walkway throwing rock God stances without a trace of irony.
There were moment of genuine humour when Grohl enquired how many of the fans had seen the band perform during their previous visits to the UK.
Of the fans making their first trip to see Foo Fighters, Grohl accused them of being "f***** lazy".
As Grohl introduced the various band members as is customary, he gave percussionist Drew Hester a 20-second spot to play a solo on the triangle.
Tom, a fan from Australia said: "It's the second time I've seen them in six months and they were just awesome."

Although a number of empty seats were clearly visible around the stadium, songs such as Times Like These, Breakout and My Hero were met with deafening cheers and bursts of singing.
After a blistering performance of All My Life, the band returned to the stage to playa further four songs, eventually closing with Best Of You.
South African fans Dino and Carleen said: "You could see when they left the stage, how much it meant to them."
"It's our first time at Wembley, it's amazing."
Craig Barker from Doncaster said: "We're gonna stay here tonight and stand outside Wembley and try and buy tickets to watch the same thing again.
"That was unreal."
At one point, Grohl who was clearly loving every second of the show, joked that they would go back to the US to record another album and play the stadium again in a matter of months.
A joke surely, but based on the crowd reception, the Foos will be welcomed back again with open arms.
