Jim's finally fixed it for Elbow

Elbow have revealed they have a special reason why they are especially looking forward to playing Glastonbury this summer.

It has got something to do with one of the artists playing on the same day, none other than the Welsh Elvis, Mr Shakin' Stevens.

"This has not escaped our notice," smiled singer Guy Garvey.

The 60-year-old had a string of hits in the early 80s like Green Door and This Ole House.

He continued: "Yeah, Mark our guitarist wrote to Jim'll Fix It to ask if he could play guitar with Shaky.

"I don't know if he'll get his dream but he'll at least shake his hand."

If you are just too young to realise how awesome this is, Jim'll Fix It was a TV show in which one-time Top Of the Pops presenter Jimmy Saville tried to make kids' wishes come true.

One of Elbow's greatest Glastonbury moments came during the festival in 2002 when they recorded fans singing along to one of their songs and used it in their next album, Cast of Thousands.

Fans were invited to write to the band and have their name printed in the CD sleeve, around five thousand people were eventually featured.

Garvey said: "This will be the fourth time we've played. It's the best party in the world and once your in there, a community forms immediately, everybody looks after each other.

"There's so much going on, you can't possibly be bored."

Garvey also supports organisers Michael and Emily Eavis' controversial decision to book Amy Winehouse for the event.

He said: "All I know about Amy is that she's very sweet and she works far too hard. "There you go, that's testament to the party that they throw at Glastonbury every year.

"The fact that Amy's been announced is just one more reason for people to get down to Worthy Farm."

Winehouse had a disastrous return to the stage in Lisbon at the Rock In Rio festival on 30 May, when she appeared shaky on her feet and struggled with a sore throat.
